Manufacturing Methods :(a) potassium hydroxide , sodium hydroxide , and the mixture in the presence of sodium hydride , N- phenyl glycine and sodium amide ( or sodium and ammonia stream ) into the molten phenol indolenine then oxidized with air indolenine phenol ; (b) by alkali fusion makes Homophthalic phenylglycine (2-(Carboxymethylamino)benzoic acid ) into a 3 – hydroxy-2 – indole acid , alkaline solution and then using air oxidation ; (C) with potassium hydride and lead carbonate in aqueous – alcoholic solution treatment symmetry 1,3-Diphenylthiourea , and then by changing the role of ammonium sulfide generated α – cyano -N, N’- diphenyl- formamidine 2 – anilino -α – ( benzylidene -amino) thioacetamide , followed by heating with concentrated sulfuric acid , converted to 2 – ( benzylidene -amino) phenol indolenine ( isatin aniline ) , isolated as the hydrochloride ( or bisulfite compounds ) , and finally treatment with ammonium sulfide directly into indigo ; 2 – thioxo isatin intermediate product of the reaction is not isolated (Sandmeyer method ) ; this method is mainly important for the preparation of isatin significance , 25% sulfuric acid which can be used hydrolyzing the solution in a boiling 2 – ( indol- benzylidene amino- phenol  and the isatin was prepared (GP 119280); (d) in the presence of sodium hydroxide , 2-Nitrobenzaldehyde  is reacted with acetone ; (e ) sodium hydroxide and ( o-nitrophenyl ) propiolate total heat into isatin , and then use the glucose reduction .

Properties and Applications:blue. Not soluble in ethanol, soluble in hot aniline. In concentrated sulfuric acid for yellow green, blue precipitate after dilution, In concentrated nitric acid for the red light yellow, have isatin generation; In the basic insurance powder solution for yellow; In the acidic insurance powder solution colorless. With C.I.Vat Blue 1 chemical and the same.
